Love’s the Thing

“high quality theatre… a wonderful afternoon.”

Eastbourne Herald

LOVE’S THE THING was a celebration of William Shakespeare, compiled by Nigel Fairs. Inspired by the Jane Austen novel “Mansfield Park”, the evening took the form of a 19th Century “private theatrical”, in which the arrogant Edmund, his stoically determined sister Maria and their handsome cousin George performed Shakespearean extracts to their recently bereaved mother, the rather deaf Lady Ditchling and an assortment of family friends.

First produced in 1999, it then toured with the Classic Reaction Theatre Company and in 2010 was presented by tlc productions at the Lamb Theatre in Eastbourne, starring Louise Jameson as Lady Ditchling.
